Administrators Herbert Playz Posted October 13, 2022 Administrators Share Posted October 13, 2022 It seems like Elon Musk's Starlin will soon get some competition by another company with deep pockets. I think more people having access to the internet is a good thing. But from what I understand Starlink's satellites work much better in rural areas as there is less competition for terminal use than the cities. And from recent quotes, it seems like Amazon is focused on serving underserved and rural communities as well. Quote "If you want to make a difference for unserved and underserved communities, you need to deliver service at a price that makes sense for customers" -Rajeev Badyal, VP of Technology for Project KuiperSource One has to wonder if this means that we should expect to Project Kuiper tied to Amazon Prime in a few years. I can easily foresee a future where Amazon has a tiered system for Amazon Prime benefits. Like a basic plan to keep the barrier to entry low and a plus plan for more advanced features like satellite internet access.
