House of The Dragon Season 1 Episode 5 Review And Reaction

Ser Christon Cole was savage this episode. Totally unhinged! You know, the showrunner said(and I'm paraphrasing) that we can't have a wedding without something going wrong.

I have to disagree with that statement. There is one wedding that we've had but for whatever reason it was left out of the show. As lord commander Jon Snow arranges a wedding between Alys Karstark and the new king of the Thenns. He does this to give Lady Karstark the men she needs to hold Karhold which is rightfully her's but was unlawfully taken by her uncle. In the books its a very impromptu wedding, that was patched together in a hurry but seemed extremely cool. I would have loved to see it in the show. The best thing about it is that nothing goes wrong!

In this episode it made it very easy for me to dislike Christon Cole. He is a knight of the kingsguard. He needs to keep his mouth shut. Surely he would know the consequences of his actions that night, even if he wasn't the one that initiated its still his fault for complying. And then to turn around and tell queen alicent! How stupid can you be!

Did Cole really expect Rhaneyra to just run off with him? The heir to the iron throne just gives everything up in an instant? Their was no romance, no real interactions between them to really build up their relationship beforehand to get her to make a monumental choice like that. How could he be so ridiculous and then become so jealous to the point where he attacks and kills Laneor's lover. And then there is no fallout for his actions!
