I'll be the first to admit that I did not care for the loyalty test that the Elder mages were putting Yen through. Tissaia knew that Yennefer had said everyone by tapping into fire magic and as a result had lost her magic. If she was the hero, you don't force her to do something morally grey especially if she doesn't want to do it. IF the truth comes out, the truth would prove to be the loyalty test.
